No participation of Veolia

26-05-2012 19:43

In recent months and weeks A Different Jewish Voice in the Netherlands has been active in opposing the idea that the French multinational Veolia should take part in a public transport tender to exploit a bus system in The Hague, the well known ‘world capital of peace and justice’.

Together with United Civilians for Peace (UCP) we submitted convincing evidence to the decision-making authorities that Veolia has an impressive record in being complicit in breaching international law in Israel/Palestine. We added an extensive legal opinion on the matter.

The Dutch local and regional authorities have to refrain from contracting Veolia, we argued. In a recent decision (23rd of May) our view was honored: the public transport contract went to a different company (HTMBuzz).

We sent a letter to express our appreciation for this decision.
See here for the translation of this letter in English.
